Housing Support Specialist:


The MDI & Ellsworth Housing Authorities is looking for a Housing Support Specialist to join its team. This position is responsible for providing assistance to the residents of the MDI and Ellsworth Housing Authorities. Needs to be welcoming and informative. Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to multi task. The Support Specialist is responsible for assisting occupancy staff to perform daily tasks related to property management, and to work with the Section 8 Rental Program. The position is year-round. Willing to train the right candidate!

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Set up initial certifications, briefings, re-certifications and interim examinations for housing programs
• Conducts orientation of prospective program participants as required by HUD and Housing Authority Policy
• Act as receptionist as needed
• Collect rent as needed

SKILLS
• Must be highly organized
• Requires the ability to work in a team
• Competency in operating computers, printers, general office equipment, and a multi-line telephone
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• High school diploma or equivalent

Maintenance Technician:


The MDI & Ellsworth Housing Authorities is looking for a Property Maintenance Person to join its Maintenance Team, full or part time. Property Maintenance Personnel maintain several properties on Mount Desert Island, and Ellsworth. Full time employees receive a stipend to be on an on-call schedule, on a rotating basis. Work items include routine maintenance as well as emergency repairs. Job duties include a wide variety of repairs including electrical, plumbing, painting, snow removal, grounds work and general property maintenance. Clean driving record a must. Will pay more for the right candidate who holds a trade license.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Repair / replace plumbing fixtures
• Minor electrical repairs
• Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
• Install appliances and equipment
• Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash etc.
• Snow removal plowing and hand shoveling
• Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. heating systems)
• Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire extinguishers)
• Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations
• Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues

SKILLS
• Basic carpentry and painting skills
• Ability to handle snow removal (i.e. operate plow and shovel)
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
• Experience using hand and electrical tools
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical stamina and dexterity
• High school diploma or equivalent

Facilities Director:


MDI and Ellsworth Housing Authorities is seeking a Facilities Director to help oversee our facilities. The ideal candidate for this position will exercise strong leadership, energy and a passion for seeing projects through to completion. They will work in a fast-paced environment, working closely with our management team to ensure that the requirements and demands of our organization are met, and to ensure vacant apartments are being turned over in a timely manner. The Facilities Director is responsible for overseeing all facility related activities for multiple housing authority properties located on MDI and in Ellsworth. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to managing the maintenance staff, working on capital improvements projects, and coordinating with contractors, all while following budgets and procurement procedures. Should have working knowledge of facilities systems, and previous administrative experience is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure facilities are in good repair
• Monitor the progress of ongoing capital projects
• Ensure facilities are in compliance with OSHA regulations
• Ensure compliance with HUD REAC requirements
• Regularly work with contractors
• Be available on-call to assist with major maintenance emergencies and snow removal

The Facilities Director oversees the development, renovation and maintenance of our facilities by providing guidance and support to the maintenance staff. A company vehicle is provided.
